- Submission of the subject with a brief statement to the Illinois Lodge of Research is recommended before devoting a great deal of time to the topic.
- Subjects deemed not suitable would be the same not permitted at a Masonic meeting.
- Ritualistic subjects must be cleared with the Board of Grand Examiners by the author.
- Questions relating to Masonic Law must be cleared with the Grand Master by the author.
- The promotion of personal theories or projects is forbidden.
- Papers favoring or opposing pending or proposed legislation are not appropriate.
- The length of a paper shall have a relationship to the interest in the subject matter by the general membership, or its timeliness.
- Papers need to be submitted on 8-1/2 X 11 typed, double-spaced paper to Hilton Kaufman, 2713 W. Jarvis Ave., Chicago, IL 60645. A bibliography must be included. A copy of the article via email or other electronic means is appreciated. This may be done in lieu of the typed copy.
- There are certain areas that should be avoided as not worthy of our attention. A partial list includes occult and mystic subjects; attempts to link the Craft with other groups; theories on the origins of the Craft; and representing historical events as Masonic projects.
- Some areas that lend themselves to papers of general interest are aspects of Illinois Masonic history; symbolism; biographical sketches; philosophy; lodge administration; leadership; music; literature; Masonic Words; jurisprudence; the nature of the Craft; current events; patriotic items; etc.
- All authors submitting material agree to allow the Illinois Lodge of Research unlimited use of their copyright on the material.
